If your Spring has been as busy as mine, you know how difficult it is to fit everything you want to do into your schedule! For me, that means that while I have secured class dates and times, I have not decided which classes or projects to teach on which date. For you, that means you can choose a class or project and then claim the date and time that works best for you!
Also, I want to let you know that Michael’s is offering a $20 voucher good toward class supplies if you sign up for a class by May 3rd. (Note: you only need to register by May 3rd to get the $20 voucher; class can be scheduled for May or June. Check with the store for more details.) Continue reading
Even as we welcome Spring and eagerly leave behind our warm sweaters, knit and crochet inspiration still strikes in the form of fun and functional accessories to learn fundamental skills to practice during the warmer months. Now is the perfect time to sign up for a class to build your skills with smaller projects over the spring and summer and to learn new stitches and techniques in time to create beautiful projects to enjoy in the fall and winter or to give as gifts.

One of the hottest design trends these days is “ombre” color palettes… from hair, to nails, to clothing and accessories. My March and April blanket (or throw) class projects are worked in a single simple stitch with contrasting colors in a “color block” wide stripe design for both the crochet and knit versions (see photos on my “CLASSES/PROJECTS” page). While I love the fun and vibrant look of contrasting colors, another idea occurred to me to arrange the colors tonally to create a beautiful ombre effect…

I thought I would post a photo to show you some things I’ve been working on to prepare for my new March classes. Once equipped with a few “basic” skills, you can begin to make a variety of projects, big and small, limited only by your imagination! Here are a couple of simple items I made in an afternoon after crocheting a few small squares (and a couple of rectangles) from the new “Crochet Basics” class, using only one or two simple stitches:
Based on feedback I’ve received after the Michael’s Open House and in-store demonstrations, I am excited to announce new classes that I will be offering starting in March!
“Knitting Basics” and “Crochet Basics” –
In response to interest in several of my projects which are not “beginner” level, I will begin teaching 2 new courses: “Knitting Basics” and “Crochet Basics.” These courses are designed to teach basic stitches and techniques, along with an overview of abbreviations and pattern reading without the pressure to complete a large project. This will allow you to learn more in class to build your skills and confidence to make unique projects on your own or in a class of your choice. Continue reading
