For those who are already comfortable with knit or crochet, I am excited to offer 2 new project classes:
Convertible Fingerless Gloves (knit) – Sunday, March 23, 2:00-4:00pm
“Color Block” Baby Blanket (crochet) – Saturday, March 29, 1:00-3:00pm
Convertible Fingerless Gloves (knit) – As a simpler alternative to the long fingerless gloves that I showed at the Open House, I have designed a pattern for a shorter (and convertible!) ribbed version for an “advanced beginner” project. This version is made from just one ball of the same yarn as the longer gloves and has quickly become my more versatile, “go-to” pair for every day! With this project you will learn more about stitch patterns, working neat edges and how to sew a seam. Check out the photos on my “Projects” page and sign up for class to make your pair in time to wear as the cold weather thaws, but is still cool enough to want to keep your hands warm!
“Color Block” Baby Blanket (crochet) – This adorable baby blanket features wide stripes in four colors and can also be made into a full-size throw by simply adding more stitches and working more rows. The blanket is worked in one simple stitch with the changing colors adding interest. This pattern can be worked in 3 color combinations:
However, feel free to choose any color combination to suit your baby (or decor)!
This project will teach you how to work a simple stitch and change colors and will also give you experience working on a larger scale. Since I am still working on a sample blanket, I do not yet have a photo to post to my “Projects“ page. However, I will be working on the sample blanket at a Michael’s in-store demonstration next Saturday from 12-2pm if you’d like to stop by for a peek. (Update 2/16/14: Photos now posted to “Projects” page.)
Class dates and times are posted to my “Calendar” and a materials list for the gloves are on my “Projects” page. Register with Michael’s in-store or online at Michaels.com.
I hope you will enjoy these projects!
