Thanks to everyone for stopping by at the Michael’s Open House and for signing up for a class to learn a new skill or to expand your current skills. It was a pleasure meeting all of you and I look forward to our upcoming “infinity scarf” classes. Every project (even small ones) will build your skills and knowledge. Your new hobby can be a simple joy or grow into a real passion with much more to learn. It’s a fun journey and I’m here to help you!

Check out the “Calendar,” “Projects” and “Resources” pages for details of our upcoming classes and to help you prepare. The infinity scarf will be a great quick project to build your skills and confidence. With a little experience, you will be able to find the right yarn and stitch pattern to make more advanced projects that you will love.

If you are new to knit or crochet, please take some time to review “learn to knit” or “learn to crochet” instructions from a book or online (click on my“Resources” page for a link and  book suggestions). You will find that printed instructions with diagrams are extremely helpful for learning and for reference. Also, please use the instructions you choose to practice holding the needles/hook, controlling the yarn and try a few beginning steps at home:

For knitting, try “casting on,” the knit stitch and the purl stitch.

For crochet, try making a foundation chain and single crochet.

Don’t worry if it feels awkward. We’ll work on it much more in class, but a little preparation goes a long way! If you have any questions or comments, click on my “Contact” page to send me a message and I will respond as soon as possible.

Thanks again for signing up. I look forward to seeing you soon!
